Clearly in no mood to oblige Sports Minister MS Gill who wants him to go, Indian Hockey Federation President KPS Gill on Thursday said he is not quitting from his post.
The defiant IHF chief said he had not taken note of the Sports Minister's advice and would continue in the federation.
"I will not quit as the IHF President. I have not taken note of the Sports Minister's advice", he told NDTV.
Earlier, in the wake of the sting operation that caught former secretary of the federation K Jothikumaran accepting bribe to purportedly induct a player in the national team, the Sports Minister had said that the IHF chief should step down from the post.
"I believe,in the totality of the situation, the IHF President must also introspect and review his position," the minister said in a statement.
"In full consideration of the situation facing Indian Hockey, and the national need, I urge him, to consider withdrawing from his current responsibility. It is time to let other Indians, make an attempt, to lift our hockey," he said.
Gill has been under pressure to resign as IHF chief, a position he has held for close to 15 consecutive years, with several Members of Parliament and former hockey players demanding his ouster.

Dear Dr.sundeep,
So nice of you to comment on my blog amidst your busy but most blissful duties of father-hood! Thank you for the response! Off-late sports scene in India is becoming chaotic. IPL league looks like another aberration to me with its controversies on a daily basis! The recent up-roar about 'Cheerleaders' prompted me to write another parody! You may find it at http://svnathan.sulekha.com/blog/post/2008/04/cheerleaders-se-nazar-nahin-hat-ti-a-parody.htm. I hope you will enjoy it!
Regards,
Nathan.

Dear Dr. Kamath Saab,
I always wait for your comments like ----(let me steal your own words!)-- a 'Chaatak' bird'?!
Aapne bilkul sahi farmaaya about Jothikumaran's role. But Dr. saab, I left him scot-free (in my parody!), not because he is a Tamilian, but only because his long name would not fit in the meter of the song! Kahiye to ek Tamil parody likh-kar uske pant uthaar doon?! (Sorry, if i sound crude!). He certainly deserves more brick-bats than KPS Gill!
Dr.Saab, Aap-ke kind compliments-se 'protsaahik' hokar humne aur ek 'khatarnaak' blog likh dala! So please visit my latest blog at http://svnathan.sulekha.com/blog/post/2008/04/cheerleaders-se-nazar-nahin-hat-ti-a-parody.htm
I have given it an 'A' certificate, but I hope you don't get offended by the contents and enjoy it thoroughly!
Thank you again for all the encouragement, as always!
Regards,
S.V.Nathan.

Dear Shri S. V. Nathan Ji,
Aap to kamaal ke uppar kammal kar rahe ho. Ye kavita yadi, KPS Gill saab ne padhi to vo hosh aur hawaas kho bhaitenge aur sochenge ye naya shayar achanak kahan se tapak gaya. Wah! very appropiate parody on the current sad state of affairs of IHF and its President K.P.S. Gill. I really admire your creativitiy to come up with such parody by appropriately rhyming Dil lwith Gill and then putting the right lyrics to fit the meter of the original song so that anyone can sing it using original tune. Hats Off to you Nathan Saab.
I wish you had dedicated one stanza on Jothikumaran who was main culprit involved in taking bribe of meagre amounts like one or two lakhs of Rupees. Jothikumaran really put Gill Saab in very bad light. I am not sure if Gill Saab himself took bribe which I do not think so.
Are ye aap ne kya kiya, Jothikumaran Tamil hai is ke liye uske upar kuch stanza nahi likha kya. Just Joking..
Keep up the Godd Work! We all expecet more such beautiful parodies from you in near future. Keep imagining brilliantly like you always do.
So Long!
Regards,
Dr. Kamath

Dear Nathan Sir,
Muqarrar, muqarrar ! Your post could'nt have come at a better time what with the IHF reeling under the bribery scandal. M S Gill is dead right in asking for other Gill's resignation. Its precisely 28 years since we last won any medal in Hockey. KPS Gill's shameless bravado is causing untold misery to millions of hockey fans in India.
Sir, of late I have been missing out on quite a few of yours and Kamath Sir's posts. Actually, due to my added responsibilities of fatherhood I am finding it very difficult to spend time on the internet. But I do keep track of all of your activities through email alerts.

Thank you so much for the encouraging response!
