Dear Sivaram,
Thank you so much for the warm response!
Yes, even I am surprised at my 'chain-blogging' during the last few weeks (for want of nothing better to do!). Got to be careful, because this habit could earn one the label 'Velai-vetti illadha Udhavakkarai!' in family circles!!
I hope you are not suggesting my blogs are as much 'flops' as Dev Anand-directed movies! BTW I saw him yesterday in NDTV interview at Cannes. He was telling that he doesn't take his flops to his heart. He 'gets over' them quickly and gets totally involved in making his next 'flop', sorry project! He always feels 'mentally young'! Hats off to his spirit!
Regards,
Nathan.

Dear Dr. Saab,
Lagta hai aap mere 'understandably' word-ko bahut serious-ly le liye! I was just joking! But I am touched by your sincere attempt to instill 'music' into a 'musical gyaan-shoonya' like me! I remember Kishore Kumar teaching Sunil Dutt music in 'Padosan'. When the 'Guru' (KK) says 'Bhole! Neeche-se gaa!', 'Bhola' (SD) obediently gets down from the cot to the floor and starts singing and soon attracts a donkey to the door! Kahin aap bhi ek donkey-ko camphor-ka sublime smell appreciate karneko to nahin sikha rahen hain!(to translate a popular Tamil proverb!).
Anyway aap-ka advice mere sar-aankhon-par! Yeh aap-ka hokum samajhkar main koshish karoonga! I guess aap itna keh rahen hain to my voice must be at least  enough 'tolerable' to be 'Gaddhha-proof'!
Actually Dr. Saab, I seriously made an attempt to sing, Mukesh's 'Tum bin jeevan kaise bheeta—' with Karoke background, but gave up as I could not match my pace with the background! (I was focusing on Talat and Mukesh songs as Rafi's and Kishore's slots have been filled by Gopal Saab and Sablu-ji resp.!) I think I will make another attempt at Karoke or follow your other option of 'troubling' Sablu-ji for guitar chord background!
BTW, why are we not hearing your voice in sulekha? Looking at your photo, I have a vague intuition that you have a 'bulund' booming voice close to Mahendra Kapur , combined with the classical skill of Manna Dey! Just guessing! Am I right?!
Thanks again for the valuable response!
Aap-ka,
Nathan.

As usual you have created a laugh riot with the Mumbhai News .Should I call it a parody  or a melody as the beautiful evergreen song of Dev Anand is attached in your own  voice . Your voice quality is  pretty good but you had to digitally remaster with Saregama Technology ! That is all missing ! Also you have reached the Dev Anand speed of producing quickies in these blogs from news ! Even before I read the previous  blog the next one is waiting for me! When will I get that speed!

The content and your imaginations are awesome ! Wonderful Enjoyed as usual

Thanks

Sivaram

Dear Shri S. V. Nathan Saab,

This is my response to your comment which I am replying 'understandably' now. After hearing your song second time, I have determined that you have a good voice quality and lots of potential to get better. But I sincerely feel that you need some more practice to develop it further so that you will sing accurately with the accompanying Rhythm.

There are softwares which suppress the voice but those softwares are not that good and you will still hear a faint original voice in the background. Dr. V.S.Gopal already gave you valuable suggestions in one his responses to you and one of  which is to become a member of www.meragana.com who charge Rs. 149 per month and who have a collection of 3500 song tracks or Karoakes. Maybe you can visit this site and check out for yourself.

Or you can ask our Dear friend Sablu to send you recorded Guitar Chords for a particular song of your liking in an e-mail attachment to you through Sulekha Note where one can attach audio files.

In the begining, I would prefer that you use slow speed songs like "Chaudhavi Ka Chand Ho" type. And after you get audio file of Guitar track from Sablu, you may sing along with that Chord like Sablu does. And only after great practice, you may post it on Sulekha and enter into competetion with Sablu and Dr. V.S.Gopal himself where the competition is ongoing for number one spot in Sulekha Music World (Kishore Vs. Rafi). Needless to say that Kishore in this case is our Dear emotional Friend Sablu Mukesh.

The best bet is to learn Harmonium and sing with Harmonium like I have been doing for last 15 years where I sing my Bhajans at Flushing Temple using Harmonium. Learning and singing with Harmonium will take many many years. So If you have patience now you can still do it. Age really does not matter just looking at me as an example. Please do not take this as a boast. This is just my humble statement. But to learn Harmonium,  you need to find a good teacher. I know if you were leaving in my neighborhooin USA, you would have 'Gate-Crashed' into my house to learn like you had said in one of your lovely comments few months back. And I would have gladly accepted you as my 'Shishya' or 'Desciple'. Now who would not want our Humorous Nahan Saab as his 'Shishya'?

I hope I have given you enough hints here. Now it is upto you to choose one of the options outlined above.

All the Best in your pursiut to learn music!!!

Warm Regards,
Dr. Kamath
