‘Huzoor is kadar bhi na—‘ - An attempt at a male duet!
One seldom gets to hear male duets in Hindi songs. I find them very interesting because they bring out the contrast in the two singers’ voices and styles. One of my favourite male duets is from Masoom (1983) (Shekar Kapoor’s best effort, IMO), which had two of our finest male playbacks of 70s and 80s – Bhupinder and Suresh Wadhkar singing together this mischievous light-hearted Ghazal. I have made an attempt to replace both their voices with mine! Do-se bhale ek?!
Now don’t let my rendering put you off from enjoying this delightful song sequence which has Naseeruddin Shah and Saeed Jaffrey freaking out with song and dance after a peg or two! (Well, I didn’t have to resort to such ‘support’ for singing this song because my voice is naturally inebriated!)
The lyrics are by the inimitable Gulzar and music by irresistible R.D.Burman.

Thank you sablu-ji for the info. Frankly I didn't know about Anup Goshal. He has sung it beautifully! I will appreciate if you can help with the karoke.

Actually, I came back once again to your response for the reason behind that the male playback singer for this particular song is Anup Ghoshal not Amit Kumar. It will help you find the karoake of this same song if you are interested to sing this male number.
I will be back by Monday or Tuesday.
Till then bye.

Dear Sablu-ji,
Thank you so much for the appreciative comments! Nice to know you found my voice 'nashili'! Lekin aisa mat boliye kyunki isi bahane sulekha-mein meri aawaz-ka 'prohibition' ho jaayega! Yes, 'Tujhse naraaz nahi' was also a nice song. I would like to sing it (at least to myself) if karoke is available. I think there were two versions of it, one by Lata and one by Amit Kumar.
Regards,
S,.V.Nathan.

Dear Nathan-ji,
Classic and very awesome rendition with perfection in classical touch, vocal sound and overall technical aspects. You sang very beautifully this time this song with your juvilant mood and I don’t know how much peg of wine you would have taken. Ye to bhagwaan hi jaane. Just joking , Kyon ki janab jo apne itni khubsurati aur nashilee awaaz mein is gaane ko gaaye hai uska jawab nahin. Really I liked very much listening to your song which I could find very better than other songs. Keep on practicing, sur aur taal ko baanate rahen.
About this song, this is a nice song which was excellently rendered by Bhupinderji and Suresh wadekar under brilliant composition of my most favorite MD from film Mashoom and lovely lyrics by Gulzar sahib. I recalled my school days when I saw this film in year 1985 I was in class 8. Also love another number Tujse Naaraj Nahin by Lata. Hope someday you will render this number also which will sound very melodious in your voice.
Regards,
Mukesh

Dr.Saab,
Thank you so much for your prompt response and encouraging feedback!
Waise Alaap-Walaap kis chidiya-ka naam hai, main kuch nahin jaanta hoon! Aap mujhe kuch sikhate nahin! Probably you would have, if we lived in the same area and I gate-crashed into your house for some 'instant ' tutions in music!
As for now, I just sing to have some fun----probably at the expense of kind listeners like you!
Regards,
S.V.Nathan.

Nathan Bhai,
Ye Ghazal Gaa Kar Aapne Phirse Kamaal Kar Dikhya Hai. Aur Ab To Aap Aur Bhi Jawaan Lag Rahe Ho. Very Good Effort! I liked your in-between ALAAPS. It looks like you are coming up very fast in Sulekha singing world. Lage Raho Nathan Bhai.

I have not heard this song before and so no comparison. However I was reminded of some Jaikishan solos of Rafi (Aji Root ..Arzoo and some other Jaikishan numbers ) and you have definitely sang in relaxed manner and that is a wonderful improvement .
It looked like quawwali song although it is a ghazal .You have added variatins to the song .
Thanks
Sivaram
